Stretching 2. performance Choreography: Liwia Bargieł Performance: Liwia Bargieł/Bartłomiej Kiełbowicz Music: Hubert Zemler Production: DiR dance in residence Brandenburg BLMK, Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst Cottbus, 2022
Hands shake - the simplest gesture of welcoming, getting to know and reconciling. Currently, one of the most problematic reflexes we have left from before 2020. In our work we would like to look at the „greeting gestures“ and the need of having real contact with other person. In a time of virtual expansion, we are longing for simple encounters. We are hidden behind logos, slogans, apps and profiles. What does it need to get to know the other person? How much time it takes to tame the other one? We are seeing a change in social contacts caused by the pandemic and the parallel political tensions. We understand the greater good and nessecity of restriction. We are observing splits in societies caused by fear, anger and misinformation. We are wondering about the ubiquitous slogan: keep your distance so that you can be together again. We hope we can unite. Stretching is a performative work reflecting on current social condition and longing.
